The first woman in gold is the judoka Sandrine Martinet was crowned paralympic champion for less than 52 kg, on Thursday, September 8th, offering the first golden medal to the French team in the Games in Rio.
Aged 33 years, she finally holds her first golden medal, having ended silver in Athens in 2004 and in Beijing in 2008.
Indeed , she had a kind revenge to be taken with regard to London where she had broken her left ankle while fighting during the semi-finals. Sandrine , World champion in 2006 and 2011 managed to stand out in her category by beating in finale the German Ramona Brussig, the paralympic champion titular, by registering a waza ari and two yukos. The second woman in gold is the French athlete Marie-Amélie Le Fur who obtained the golden medal of the long jump in Paralympics, giving France its second title on Friday9 th september in Rio de Janeiro.
The 27-year-old young woman, amputated by the left leg after an accident of scooter, dominated all the event and ended with a jump in 5 m 83, clearly in front of (2nd) British Stef Reid and the Dutchwoman Marlene van Gansewinkel 3rd. " This medal has the taste of the pleasure and the satisfaction after so many working years ", she declared to the press after this new paralympic title. " I tried to play with the public, with my family, to really feel their support and to enjoy myself on this track. Marie Amelie was already World champion of long jump in 2015,and golden medal-holder in her category in London paralympics
She will also take part in Rio in the events of 100 m, 200 m and 400 m. Wounded a few months before the competition, her victory is even more impressive for all .
